‘I spent holiday from hell in s***hole "Greek Butlin’s" with blood on the walls’

A British woman who booked into a four-star resort with TUI said it turned out to be a holiday from hell as the site looked like a "Greek Butlin's" complete with "blood on the walls".

Lily Davis and her partner Jamie, from West Sussex, booked in for a week at the Labranda Blue Bay resort in Rhodes, a picturesque Greek island, earlier this month, but left after two nights.

Lily, who works for a property management company, and her boyfriend forked out £780 each to stay at the "disgusting" hotel, but they claim problems greeted them from minute one.

Speaking exclusively to the Daily Star, the 23-year-old said she arrived from London Gatwick to her accommodation at nearly 2am after a full day travelling.

She added: "It's that nightmare where you think 'it's not going to happen to me'. But the moment I turned up I was like 'yep, I need to leave'.

"My partner said 'it's a s***hole' and I tried to be as optimistic as possible but as my partner tried to open the door of our room the doorknob fell off and I just burst into tears. He then tried to be the optimistic one."

She said when she went to have a shower and saw the dirty towel then the 'blood' on the walls she "burst into tears" a second time.

Lily snapped pictures of all the problems with the hotel. In one particularly jarring image, a red substance appears to be smeared on the white wall on the inside of a room.

Another image shows a brownish red substance on one of the window sills, while others show a loose doorknob, loose rail on the balcony, mould in a kettle, a dirty towel left in a shower and a general lack of maintenance.

She added that "nasty cats who hissed and scratched" were walking all over the site.

Lily also shared an image of live wires and a switchboard uncovered, 'mystery meat' and an abandoned car outside the building.

The 23-year-old also bemoaned the "bland" food and questioned how the hotel was all-inclusive if she had to pay extra for orange juice and coffee.

She said she waited up all night to see the on site TUI rep the next morning. Lily said she demanded a change of accomodation and was told she'd have to pay almost £800 again to move to another TUI hotel.

Lily said she went full "Karen" mode and threatened to take the company to court because of how they allegedly misrepresented the hotel online.

They eventually moved her to a "beautiful" hotel after one more night at Labranda and waived the fee.

"That hotel, without a shadow of a doubt, was a four star whereas the Labranda was like a Butlin's or a caravan park — it was horrendous," she said.

In a statement, TUI told the Star: "We are sorry to hear about Ms Davis’s experience in Rhodes. We recognise that on this occasion services fell short of our usually high standards.

"Our TUI customer rep in resort was in contact with Ms Davis during her stay and arranged for her to change hotels free of charge, which Ms Davis accepted and was happy with."
