The daughter of a man once an ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin has been found dead after “feeling unwell”.

Natalia Bochkareva, 44, was on July 11 found dead in her flat in Moscow's Presnensky District.

Her father was Vasily Bochkarev who himself died in 2016 aged 67, having been a member of Putin’s United Russia party and had governed Penza oblast from 1998 to 2015.

The alarm was raised by the concierge of her building who said Ms Bochkareva, 44, had stopped answering her door and when police entered they discovered her body.

In charge of her family’s baking and lumber-processing business, preliminary reports show no signs of a struggle or a violent death.

Hers is the latest in a long list of high-profile Russians falling ill and dying, with a number of eyebrow-raising deaths occurring since the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, many of which have been in the energy sector.

Ms Bochkareva made headlines two years ago when she was scammed by a fortune teller who she paid £136,000 to lift a curse, only for them to vanish into thin air once the money had been paid.

In January close pal of Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Magomed Abdulayev, 61, was run over and killed by a car.

Ukranian-run Telegram channel Pravda Geraschenko said at the time: “A car knocked down the ex-premier of Dagestan in Makhachkala, killing him.

“The Russian media report that Magomed Abdulayev, 61, became the victim of a car collision when he crossed the road in the wrong place.”
