Social media users are mass reporting Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp as down, with the popular sites, all owned by Meta, not working for thousands.

Over 4,000 reports were registered at 8.10pm, detailing a flurry of fuming Brits across the country as they noted the outage.

Users trying to access the trio of apps found they could not send direct messages and were unable to access the platforms entirely in some instances.

With the social media apps currently down, plenty of social media users flooded to the likes of Twitter to air their complaints, fuming at the Meta mishap.

One user wrote: "I love how we all run to Twitter to find out when Instagram and other Facebook apps are down."
