Harry ‘swore at Charles’ who ‘didn’t take his calls’ after cash row, claims book

Prince Harry "swore" at his father King Charles over the phone during a row about money, according to a book.

Writing in his new release Our King: Charles III — The Man And The Monarch Revealed (serialised by the Daily Mail) royal author Robert Jobson claims the argument is also why Charles stopped taking his son's calls.

The rift between Harry and Charles has been well-documented and widened by the recent release of the Duke of Sussex's memoir Spare and his Netflix series with wife Meghan Markle.

However, the problems started well before that. Following their departure from royal life in 2020, Harry and Meghan were interviewed by Oprah Winfrey in 2021 – a chat during which Harry claimed his father had stopped taking his calls.

According to Jobson, it was Harry who allegedly burnt his bridges with Charles after a fiery argument on the phone.

He writes that the Duke of Sussex had been contacting the late Queen to discuss financial matters, but she reportedly grew "weary and tired" of her grandson.

Harry is said to have regularly phoned his grandmother after moving to California, but she felt "troubled" when he asked her to voice his grievances.

"Her Majesty found Prince Harry's calls quite difficult and wearisome. She didn't want to interfere in the father/son relationship and would urge him to speak to his father," a source told Jobson.

The late Queen told Harry to go directly to his father instead, but according to Jobson it all ended in disaster when tempers flared during a phone call due to disagreements over money.

"Prince Charles simply stopped taking Harry's calls after his son swore at him and repeatedly asked for funds," Jobson writes.

"When the Queen asked Charles why he hadn't given in, he told her that he wasn't a bank."
