Solovyov explained that he had seen Russian conscripts dressed inappropriately for the battlefield in Ukraine. The Russian pundit explained that the army was working on fixing the shortcomings as soon as possible. Solovyov showed footage of the Russian conscripts in their military attire. And pointed out that one man had made knee pads out of a plastic bottle, due to the army not giving him the correct equipment.

Solovyov said: “I went to see the guys I met and already knew, I went to the training site.

“On the training site, those who are yet to make it to the battlefield, many are dressed in whatever was given to them by their countries.

“It would be ideal if that was supplied by the army, but we are realists so we say it how it is and not the way we would like it to be.

“The army is clearly working to fix the shortcomings, as quickly as possible.

“Take a look guys, what is this? You see one of them has no knee pads.

“Another one made some out of the empty bottles, he cut knee pads out of plastic bottles.”

There have been ongoing intelligence reports claiming that Russian soldiers do not have the correct equipment for the war.

Footage from Russian soldiers in Ukraine has circulated online, showing the poor conditions they have been made to fight in.

Some had not been given helmets and the correct body armour.

Despite the reports Putin has continued to mobilise Russian men, recruiting and training them to go off and fight in Ukraine.

Russian politician, Leonid Slutsky confirmed reports that Russian troops were lacking the correct equipment.

Mr Slutsky exposed the military shortcomings during a meeting over the weekend with the mothers of Russian soldiers on the frontlines of the battle.

Mr Slutsky said: “There are not enough doctors in the military units; everyone says this. I cannot say they do not exist at all, but they are practically not seen there.

“We must understand that the whole world is watching us. We are the largest state and when we do not have socks, shorts, doctors, intelligence, communications, or simply care for our children, questions arise that will be very difficult to answer.”
