Lettuce Liz Truss demanded double espressos and a bottle of wine on her ministerial “rider”, a new biography has claimed.
The ex-PM asked for a regular caffeine fix when she travelled on government business.
She insisted on double espressos from “independent producers only,” served in a “flat white-sized takeaway cup.”

At Westminster she had her own espresso machine that aides “lugged from department to department each reshuffle,” according to Out of the Blue by Harry Cole and James Heale.
Former aide Kirsty Buchanan is quoted as saying: “She drinks about 42,000 espressos a day, or she used to when I worked for her.”
Liz also asked for a bottle of sauvignon blanc in the rider she issued to embassies – apparently to help her wind down.
But the book quotes a memo from an official: “The drinking began at the airport and continued on the plane.”
The flop Tory leader demanded “freshly prepared” food with “no pre-made or plastic packed sandwiches.”
For lunch she asked for bagels or sushi, with “absolutely no mayonnaise on anything, ever.”

The slim 47-year-old also refused to eat fruit for breakfast and could pack in a surprising amount of food, Kirsty claims.
She adds: “She would sit there with a massive meatball sub or eat three croissants for breakfast. She would carb up; frankly, no woman in her 40s should be eating that much and getting away with it.”
