‘Cannibal’ Gordon Ramsay warned of ‘ancient curse’ from PETA over octopus sales

PETA has lashed out at Gordon Ramsay and warned him to "never, ever" eat octopus again or risk falling victim to an "ancient curse."

The animal rights activists claimed Ramsay was putting himself and diners at his restaurant at risk of the curse, which "slowly turn any human who kills, cooks, or consumes octopuses into a cephalopod [the animal family octopuses belong to]" simply by serving the animal in his establishments.

In a letter to the 55-year-old chef, PETA wrote: "Octopuses are hyper-intelligent animals capable of complex thought processes: they can navigate mazes, use tools, and learn how to do such things as unscrew lids simply by watching.

"They are masters of disguise, they decorate their homes as we do, and they have excellent memories.

"They are also extremely sensitive to pain. In fact, because octopuses' brains are distributed throughout their bodies, the terror and pain they experience at being sliced up alive or speared to death, common methods of killing these animals, is almost unimaginable.

"Fortunately, dodging the curse is simple: take octopuses off your menus for good and pledge never, ever to eat these clever cephalopods."

An accompanying video saw PETA declare that anyone who eats octopus is "basically a cannibal" because of how intelligent the creatures are.

Carnivore Ramsay doesn't seem too bothered by this claim – in an episode of The F Word he was seen munching on a live octopus, killing it by chomping into its head.

PETA vice president of programmes Elisa Allen told LADbible : "If Gordon Ramsay could make decisions with his heart instead of his bottomless stomach, he'd admit that carving up these highly intelligent, sensitive beings is cruel and unnecessary.

"As Halloween approaches, PETA is warning Ramsay and people everywhere to change course to vegan eating or suffer the 'octocurse'."

The animal rights activist group has a long history of animosity with Ramsay and has even previously called on his kids to disown him for a controversial TikTok video in which he climbed into a lamb pen and declared: "I am going to eat you!"

He then rubs his hands together and says "yum yum yum" before asking the adorable animals: "Which one is going in the oven first?"

Allen said: "Gordon Ramsay is a callous man who makes a fool of himself: intimidating gentle lambs is loutish, not amusing.

"What would be funny is if his children went vegan and disowned him – much in the way Elon Musk's daughter disowned her father.

"Those lambs are just babies who want little from life but the chance to live it and not end up in this moron's – or anyone else's – mouth."

The Daily Star has contacted Ramsay's representatives for comment.
