Brits living in Scotland could face a washout as “heavy” downpours look likely north of the border, the Met Office has warned. WXCHARTS, a weather forecasting website, has also predicted that a band of rain will cross the Irish Sea and move through Scotland on Thursday.

However, excluding patches of rain and a smaller band impacting the north of England and Wales, much of the UK is likely to escape the downpours.

Temperatures also look set to remain mild later into the week.

Scotland will see minimum temperatures hover between 11 and 15C.

Maximum temperatures in England will vary but areas in and around London could peak at 20C.

Wales is marginally cooler than England, with a range of 16 to 18C.

However, minimum temperatures in Northern Ireland could teeter towards single digits at just 12C in places.

The Met Office’s forecast for Wednesday said: “Rain over some northwestern parts, mainly northwest Scotland where it may turn heavy later.

“Elsewhere fog lifting, then variable cloud along with some sunshine.

“Light winds, so feeling rather warm.”

Looking ahead to later this week, the UK’s national weather service also warned Brits could be hit by rainfall.

They said: “Band of rain spreading southeast across most parts on Thursday and Friday, heavy in places and clearing from the far southeast on Saturday.

“Sunny spells and a few showers elsewhere.”

The BBC added: “Friday will be much brighter for most with sunny spells and occasional light showers.

“However, central and southern England will see the arrival of the band of cloud and heavy rain.

“Saturday will be largely dry for many, but cloudy conditions and rain spells may linger in the far south for a time.

“Sunday might see a new band of cloud and rain moving into western Scotland.”
