A man has been hailed as a hero after stopping a crazed woman shouting “Allahu Akbar” from entering the cockpit of a plane.

The scary incident took place on a Jet2 flight going from Larnaca in Cyprus to Manchester, but it was forced to divert to Paris on Tuesday (August 9).

Passengers saw woman strip to her underwear twice while trying to storm the cockpit.

She allegedly shouted the phrase, while claiming that her parents were members of the ISIS terror group, The Mirror reports.

She is thought to be in her 30s, and her rampage was stopped by dad Phillip O'Brien.

The man, who owns a drainage company and worked for a security firm in his younger years, was on the flight with six family members.

Accompanied by his wife and three children, who were among the six, he said: “Everything was normal and then shortly after take-off a woman walked up the aisle naked and banged on the cockpit door shouting 'Allahu Akbar'.

“As you can imagine everyone was s***ing themselves.

“I spoke to staff and said: 'Why have you not put her to the floor?'.

“They said: 'We're not able to'. I said, 'Well I am'.

“So when the woman went to the cockpit again I took control, took her to the ground and at that point the pilot did an emergency landing to Paris."

Mr O'Brien said he asked the woman why she was saying such things and she replied: "If I didn't there's going to be an explosion and everybody is going to die".

Video footage of the incident shows police boarding the flight to apprehend the crazed woman.

Her identity is unknown at this stage, and it is not known if she was handed over to British forces by officials in Paris, but the Daily Star has contacted Greater Manchester Police for comment.

A spokesman for Jet2 has confirmed that the Larnaca to Manchester flight was diverted to Paris early in the morning on Tuesday so that the “disruptive passenger could be offloaded”.
