EasyJet customer furious after two flights are cancelled costing her thousands

An angry easyJet passenger is still waiting for compensation from the airline after having two flights cancelled at short notice.

Sarah Thomas, from Rumney in Cardiff, has been left thousands of pounds out of pocket following a much-delayed holiday to Turkey with her two daughters, reports Wales Online.

The 38-year-old booked their trip to the popular tourist destination three years ago but it kept being postponed due to the pandemic, but finally got the nod on May 26 this year to head out from Bristol Airport.

However, when she got to the gate and were about to board the plane, they were told the flight was cancelled.

They were then told to head to Gatwick for a flight the next day, with the airline telling them to get a taxi and that they would pay for their hotel.

The next day they went to catch their flight and were yet again told at the gate it was cancelled.

Sarah and her kids then had to get a bus back to Cardiff in the middle of the night. They managed to get to the holiday the next week, but missed five days of their trip.

However, six weeks later Sarah still hasn't received any compensation.

She said: "I put my request for compensation in straight away. This was for the lost days of the holiday, the flights that were cancelled, as well as the travel to London and the hotel. I haven't heard anything about the compensation for the travel or hotel.”

The airline has said they will compensate because the holiday was cut short, but none of this money has been received by Sarah yet.

On July 8, she received confirmation that she would get compensation totalling £1,050, in respect of the Gatwick flight, with the money due to be paid within seven days.

But her claim for the same amount for Bristol has been rejected and she claims she is yet to receive a refund of the £700 she paid for that flight.

She also spent £305 on a hotel at Gatwick and £350 on a taxi. In total, factoring in the two sets of compensation she believes she is owed, she is currently out of pocket by £3,455.

Sarah said: "All the money for the extra spending I borrowed because I was told I would get it back, but they haven’t and I need to pay. We haven’t had an apology or anything from them. Not even a phone call.”
