The Prime Minister will meet with Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg to reaffirm the UK’s commitment to the military alliance, insisting any agreement with Russia must be “based on existing international agreements and the fundamental principles of a Europe whole and free”.
Mr Johnson wrote in the Wall Street Journal: “The first point of unity among the UK, the US and our allies is that we are not going back to the days when a handful of great powers decided smaller nations’ fates over their heads.
It comes as there are questions over the West’s united front following French President Emmanuel Macron’s meeting with Russia’s Vladimir Putin.
Sir Keir Starmer will also travel to the headquarters in Brussels while Foreign Secretary Liz Truss visits Moscow for talks with Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
