Sir Keir was bundled into a police car due to safety concerns after protestors surrounded him and Shadow Foreign Secretary David Lammy.

MPs called on the Prime Minister to apologise for his “poisonous” Jimmy Savile slur, where he accused Sir Keir of failing to prosecute the sex offender.

Tory MP Julian Smith said the treatment of the Labour leader is “appalling” adding that the PM needs to withdraw the comments “for our democracy” and for Sir Keir’s security”.

Tobias Ellwood echoed the plea saying: “PM- apologise please. We claim to be the Mother of all Parliaments.

“Let’s stop this drift towards a Trumpian style of politics from becoming the norm. We are better than this.”

Boris Johnson prepared to ‘smear anyone who stands in his way’, claims MP

Labour MP Dr Rosena Allin-Khan said the Prime Minister is prepared to “smear any person or group who stands in his way and benefit only himself” following his comments about Jimmy Savile and Sir Keir Starmer.

She told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme: “This is straight out of the Trumpian playbook and most of us have come into public life to help change lives.

“But Boris Johnson has come into public office to seize power and smear any person or group who stands in his way and benefit only himself.

“There’s no barrel that he won’t scrape.”
