Brits urged to check EuroMillions tickets with eight lottery jackpots unclaimed

Eight people in the UK could be millionaires right now with lucrative lottery tickets remaining unclaimed.

The special EuroMillions European Millionaire Maker created 100 new millionaires on Friday – and 25 of the prizes were won by players here in Britain.

But while 17 of the Brit winners have come forward to claim their incredible prizes, eight more millionaires haven’t contacted lottery organisers Camelot to claim their winnings.

Camelot’s Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor at The National Lottery, said, “Friday night’s special EuroMillions draw was just that – special!

"Not only were 24 lucky UK winners of a cool £1,000,000 created, thanks to the special 100 millionaires European Millionaire Maker draw but, as with every single EuroMillions draw, there was one lucky UK Millionaire Maker winner too – 25 UK millionaires in just one night!"

“We will now start to support the 17 ticket-holders who have come forward to claim their prize," he said, but added that Camelot is also very keen to find the eight missing winners.

"You could be sat on £1 million and not even know it," said Andy. "We urge players to check their emails and tickets to see if they have amazing news.

"What an incredible surprise it would be to realise you’ve started 2022 as a millionaire.”

The National Lottery is encouraging everyone to check their tickets online at national-lottery.co.uk or by downloading the National Lottery app. You can also buy and check your tickets in retail lottery stores.

Playing online via the website or app means that your ticket is automatically checked, and you get an email notification if you have won a prize.

You can also scan paper tickets on the National Lottery app to check if you're a winner.

On the sixth day after the draw (Thursday 27 January) the method of play – online or retail – will be released for any prizes that remain unclaimed from the EuroMillions draw on Friday 21 January.

With all major prizes (£50,000 and above) won in retail, approximately two weeks after the draw, if no valid claim has been received, the area in which any outstanding tickets were purchased will be released.

This area is provided by Camelot’s security team in line with its licence obligations and is designed to encourage tickets to be checked but also to enable the ticket-holder to remain anonymous if they wish.

With all National Lottery draws, players have 180 days from the day of the draw to claim their prize if they have the winning ticket.

Anyone who has any queries or who believes they have the winning ticket for any of the National Lottery draws within the 180-day deadline should call the National Lottery Line on 0333 234 5050 or email help@national-lottery.co.uk
