A young mum was put in an induced coma by medics on the side of a street after she was crushed by a tree in a freak accident in Australia.
Rebekah Swanepoel, 22, was on the way home from dinner with her partner Kurtis, 24, when a tree fell on their moving car on a road near Glen Alpine, in Sydney’s south.
Kurtis miraculously escaped with no injuries but Rebekah, who was in the passenger seat, was left with serious injuries to the head and spine.
He pulled the 22-year-old out of the “extensively damaged” car before he called emergency services shortly after 8pm on Friday.
The mum-of-one was rushed to hospital and taken straight into surgery in a bid to ease a bleed on the brain, reports News AU.
The next day, she had to have another operation and have part of her skull cap removed to help relieve pressure on her brain after the medicine she was given failed to work.
Her boss Amy Wallace, the co-owner of a salon, said she "couldn't believe it" when Kurtis phoned her about what happened.
She said: "I just could not stop the tears from coming over me.
"Rebekah is just the loveliest, most sweetest person where nothing is ever a trouble for her.

“She hasn’t had an easy life, with a lot of obstacles to overcome and this is another hurdle she now has to face.”
Her boss added: “It is going to be a long, hard and painful road and I just want to help make it easier for Rebekah and her family.
“Kurtis is just devastated – he saw the whole thing happen but he is trying to stay strong for her. “They [ family ] are all trying to stay strong for her and her daughter Margo.”
Amy confirmed that Rebekah's condition is currently stable and that doctors are hoping to wake her up from her coma sometime this week.
