Tragic bus crash kills at least 10 people as vehicle flipped onto its side

A deadly bus crash has killed at least ten people and injured 45 more as it swerved off the side of the road.

The vehicle carrying passengers from Germany to Kosovo toppled over onto its side down a grass bank in eastern Croatia at around 6am on Sunday.

At least 10 passengers have been confirmed dead so far but local police chief, Franjo Galic admitted it was difficult to tell the seriously injured from the lifeless.

Shocking photos of the incident near the town of Slavonski Brod between Croatia's capital city Zagreb and the Serbian border, show the bus on its side.

A large rescue operation was deployed to save as many lives as possible from the crash – the cause of which remains unexplained.

Health Minister Vili Baros said that of the 15 children onboard the bus, one girl had been left seriously injured, Euronews reports.

Having started the journey in Frankfurt, the bus was driving along a standard route to Kosovo's capital Pristina when the disaster unfolded, a police official told reporters.
