‘Rebellious’ teenage girl, 13, dumped on deserted island by parents as a lesson

A troublesome teenager has been dumped on a deserted island to teach her a lesson, according to reports.

Fishermen spotted a 13-year-old girl at sea who told them her parents had left her isolated so she can learn about hardship and overcoming adversity.

The teen was on land in China 1km away from Rushan City on Shandong's coast, with just water and biscuits to survive.

According to Chinese media, the girl's parents took dramatic action in a bid to shake her out of her rebellious ways and realise her potential.

The Sun reports it came after the teenager snubbed school to laze around in her bedroom all day, prompting her parents to take matters into their own hands.

According to China Press, the girl and a survival expert her parents hired, were the island's first visitors for years as there is no electricity or running water.

After two days, she reportedly flagged down fishermen sailing past who then called the police about a stranded child.

When officers turned up at the shore, the girl ran towards them in tears, telling them: "I really can’t stand it. They forced me to survive on a deserted island.

"I only have water and biscuits. I couldn’t light a fire. Please take me ashore."

Police then ordered the parents to collect her from the island and take her home to Chengdu in China's Sichuan Province.

Despite the authorities getting involved, the girl's dad has hailed the extreme stunt as a success.

He claims his daughter is now more mature and confident having explained her situation to fishermen and police, who she would have previously been too shy to approach.
