Harry may be ‘nervous’ at William reunion but ‘doesn’t want to make it awkward’

Prince Harry and Prince William may be “nervous” as they reunite for the unveiling of a Princess Diana statue –but won’t want to make things “awkward”, a royal expert has claimed.

The brothers will meet in the grounds of Kensington Palace on July 1 to mark what would have been their mum’s 60th birthday.

It is unlikely that Meghan Markle or Kate Middleton will attend, with all eyes on their husbands.

The Duke of Cambridge is celebrating his 39th birthday ahead of the ceremony.

Brittani Barger, Deputy Editor of Royal Central, a US website focused on news about the monarchy, told the Daily Star: "There is a lot of focus on Diana at the moment because of the statue unveiling and this year being what would have been her 60th birthday.

“So there is more focus on her than on his birthday this year, but I don’t think he would mind that the attention is off him. He loves his mother and wants the statue unveiling to go well and get good publicity to honor her.

“William and Harry will be very much focused on their mother and uniting for her and her memory.

“There may be some nerves as relations have been tense with the Oprah interview and other revelations.”

It will be the brothers’ second face-to-face meeting since Megxit.

They were briefly reunited duringPrince Philip’sfuneral in April and were pictured chatting after the service.

Ms Barger believes Harry will get in touch with William on his birthday to avoid any awkwardness.

She added: “I think Harry will call or text William. It’s still his brother, and they will be meeting in a few weeks time for the statue unveiling.

“I don’t think Harry would want to make things more awkward by ignoring his brother on his birthday.”

Tensions have been high between the brothers for several years, and seem to have escalated since Harry’s interview withOprah Winfreywas broadcast.

Earlier today, reports claimed he signed up for the interview just 24 hours after losing his remaining military titles in February.

A source toldThe Sun: “There was a bust-up just before Oprah but it wasn’t to do with Archie’s title.

“That had been known and discussed for quite a while.

“Harry and Meghan were very cross before Oprah because the final Megxit separation had just been signed off which included Harry not keeping military roles.

“That was what made him so angry. He’s very emotional and his military roles were very important to him given that he served.”
