A man has been airlifted to hospital after a dog savaged him in a vicious attack.
The 50-year-old victim suffered injuries to his arm and face during the incident in Bolton, Greater Manchester.
He is now in a life-threatening condition, the Manchester Evening News reports.
The dog has since been brought under control, but members of the public have been told to avoid the area.
A police scene still remains in place at Yewdale Gardens.
Bolton Council has also dispatched its Dog Enforcement Control Unit.
Greater Manchester Police earlier said in a statement: "Officers were called to Yewdale Gardens, Bolton, at about 1.20pm on Thursday 6 May 2021 to reports a man was being attacked by a dog.
"NWAS [North West Ambulance Service] and an air ambulance attended and a 50-year-old man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries to his arm and face.
"A scene remains in place and enquiries are ongoing. The dog has been secured by PetMedics."
