Meghan Markle claimed Palace aides "failed to protect her" and were "willing to lie to protect other royals."
In the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's interview with Oprah that aired overnight in the US, Meghan said that royal aides were "not willing to tell the truth to protect herself and Prince Harry."
Oprah asked the Duchess if she was 'silent or silenced', to which Meghan replied "the latter."
Meghan said: "Only once we were married and everything started to worsen that I came to understand – not only was I not being protected but that they were willing to lie to protect other members of the family.
"They were not willing to tell the truth to protect myself and my husband."
During the televised chat, Meghan started crying as she recalled the suicidal thoughts she had experienced, noting she has Prince Harry to thank for helping her.
Meghan admitted there was a moment where she did not want to live and failed to see a way out.
She claimed that in seeking help from the Palace's Human Resources team, she was told that support could not be offered to her because she was not a paid employee.
Meghan told how on a night when she was struggling with suicidal thoughts, she forced herself to join Harry, 36, at an event to avoid being home alone out of fear of what she might have done.
At the Cirque du Soleil premiere in the Royal Albert Hall on January 2019, the Duchess said she was sobbing as she tightly gripped hold of Harry's hand.
But knowing all eyes would be on them when the lights were on, Meghan said she did her best to wipe away the tears and ready herself to smile for the cameras.
