The Government is reportedly planning a “rapid reopening” of shops and hospitality venues once students go back to school.

Students in higher and further education may return in mid-April, according to Sky News.

Non-essential shops will reportedly open their doors at the same time.

Later that month, hospitality venues, hotels, leisure facilities, and some sporting venues will reopen, it is claimed.

Other entertainment venues and sports facilities will follow suit in early May, according to the leaked Whitehall documents.

However, the plans have not yet been signed off by No 10 and could be subject to change.

The Daily Star has approached Downing Street for comment.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson is preparing to present a “roadmap” out of lockdown, with Covid infection and death rates gradually falling.

The announcement will be made on Monday, February 22, outlining the timeline for a gradual return to normality.
