SAGE warns second wave deaths to ‘exceed’ first wave fatalities ‘by January’

Independent SAGE is predicting deaths from the second wave of Covid-19 will be higher than the first wave by mid-January in a doomsday warning.

The organisation is calling for an immediate national lockdown to fight the highly contagious new variant.

Its stark warning said: "Deaths from the second wave will probably exceed those in the first wave at some point in January."
