Police have launched an appeal into the whereabouts of two 11-year-old girls who didn't come home from school today.

Constantia Carr-Winterburn, of Whaley Bridge, and Lillie Almond, of Dove Holes, left their respective homes in the High Peak, Derbyshire to go to school this morning.

Their families have not heard from them since, and police are "very concerned for their safety".

The girls, who are friends and attend the same school, are thought to be together.

They both left home wearing their school uniforms. Police believe there is a chance they may have crossed the border into Greater Manchester.

Derbyshire Police said in a statement on Thursday evening: "We are very concerned for their safety and we would ask you to share this appeal and to contact us if you have any information as to their whereabouts.
