Mr Frost and Mr Barnier, the EU’s chief negotiator, have been holding trade agreement talks in London as the Brexit deadline draws near. But the UK’s deal broker has told the Prime Minister he can expect the terms of trade deal by “early next week”.

Mr Frost has pointed to a “possible landing zone” for a Brexit deal according to The Sun.

Last week, Mr Johnson said “there is a deal to be done” with the EU, and remained optimistic the UK will leave the bloc with an agreement.

But their report also holds that talks could still collapse over red line issues such as fishing and state aid rules.

Sources close to Downing Street have also said the Prime Minister is the “hardest in the room” over Brexit issues.

Mr Johnson said last night he would not back down on the issues, as Cabinet ministers have urged him to compromise.

Chancellor Rishi Sunak and Business Secretary Alok Sharma were cited in the report as telling the Prime Minister to give on the issues.

Micheal Gove has also reportedly told ministers no deal with the EU will lead to Scotland leaving the UK.

Friends of the three ministers have told the publication the claims are false and they support the Prime Minister’s strategy.
