The security guard charged in a fatal shooting of a man participating in a Denver “Patriot Rally” left jail Tuesday after posting $500,000 bond.
Matthew Dolloff, 30, left the Denver Downtown Detention Center at 3:05 p.m. Tuesday after a bondsman posted the money, Denver Sheriff Department spokeswoman Daria Serna said in an email.
Dolloff faces a charge of second-degree murder in the fatal shooting of Lee Keltner at an Oct. 10 rally in downtown Denver. Dolloff was working as a security guard for Denver television station 9News at the rally and shot Keltner after a confrontation, videos and photographs of the incident show.
Police arrested Dolloff at the scene and he remained in jail until Tuesday.
Dolloff’s attorney said during a Oct. 23 court hearing that Dolloff was being held alone and apart from other inmates at the jail for his own safety. The attorney requested that his bond be lowered, but a judge declined to do so.
Dolloff’s next court hearing is scheduled for Nov. 20.
