The definitive perfect night in has been discovered following the study of thousands of adults commissioned by frozen foods supermarket Iceland.

Following the study of 2,000 adults, it has been discovered the perfect time to clock off work is 5.52pm, the perfect end of day meal is a curry, and we love nothing more than sitting down to watch TV at 8.13pm.

A relaxing bubble bath, a glass of beer or wine, and 27 minutes of browsing Instagram also make up the perfect ingredients for the ultimate night in.

The research also found Holly Willoughby, Sir David Attenborough and Joanna Lumley are the top celebrities Brits want to catch on TV – while three is the magic number when it comes to the amount of episodes of the latest “must watch” show to be binged.

On top of all of this, cheesecake was discovered to be the dessert of choice and the ideal time for bed would be 10.56pm.

The research also claims Friday night is the best night to stay in – at any time of year.

A spokesman for Iceland said: “There are few things nicer than a Friday night in – you’ve had a long, busy week, rushing round, getting things done and now you’ve got the weekend ahead of you.

“All you need to do is get home, change into your comfy clothes, choose something nice to eat and drink, and then relax – hopefully without a care in the world.

“And everyone is in a good mood because it’s Friday – perfect.”

The study also uncovered the top lies people say to avoid going out in order to stay in and enjoy time at home.

A whopping 57% of people asked said they would use “I don’t feel very well” as an excuse, 25% would say “i’m having to work late”, while another 13% would throw their own children under the bus to claim: “My kids are ill.”

Meanwhile, the poll – which Iceland conducted via OnePoll – found Monica’s apartment from Friends and Del Boy’s living room from Only Fool and Horses were voted the most iconic living rooms of all time.

A spokesman for Iceland added: “The nation has no doubt spent countless Friday nights in their living rooms enjoying episodes of Friends, Only Fools and Horses or The Simpsons.

“So it’s very fitting they would finish so high in our poll to find out the most iconic living rooms of all-time.”
